Summer Classes

If you wish to register for a Bridge class and you took the Entry Class during the 2009 Registration year, please send an eMail to franco.danna@gmail.com ; include your USSF-ID and the Bridge Class Date/Location. You will be contacted with additional instructions and asked to pay by check.

Most Entry and Bridge classes have been scheduled. Other classes may be scheduled soon. Please click "Entry" or "Bridge" on the "Main Menu" for details.

You will be able to register online until July 15. After July 15 the registration system will be down for a month for yearly maintenance and you will only be able to register manually by sending an eMail and a check to the appropriate DDI.

We encourage you to register before July 15 to avoid manual paperwork and the possibility of delays to your registration.

Recertification classes
    From mid-October to December 31
        Begin checking www.msysareferee.net in early October for a class near you
Entry for new Referees or Bridge classes
    from July to August
        Begin checking www.msysareferee.net in June for a class near you
    from November to February
        Begin checking www.msysareferee.net in early October for a class near you

note: in Northern Michigan recertification classes may be extended through March because of weather conditions

Types of Classes Offered
Entry Classes
For people that want to become a new Referee. This will make you a grade 9. You will be able to be a Referee or an Assistant Referee in Under-14 or younger recreational games. You can also be an AR in Under-14 competitive games.

Bridge Classes
Allows grade 9 referees to upgrade to grade 8. This will allow you to referee any games for which your assigner feels that you are qualified based on your experience and abilities.

Recertification Classes:
These classes are required every year to maintain your current referee grade. There is a class for grade 9, another class for grades 8 and 7, and a class for grades 6 and 5 that is only offered usually the first weekend of December. All Recertification classes take place in November and December.

New State Youth Referee Administrator

Francisco (Chico) Villarruel has been appointed the new State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA). Chico has been a District Director of Instructions (DDI) for the last four years and worked with Michigan Referee Committee on several projects. Chico replaces Pete Morrissey who was elected to the position of Treasurer of the Michigan State Premier Soccer League after 5 years as SYRA. The Michigan Referee Committee wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude for his leadership and work with Michigan’s youth referees. We offer Pete our best wishes in his new leadership position, and welcome Chico for everything he has done so far and for taking on this new responsibility.
